Ward Village
Bridging vision and community through design.
Christine was the first designer brought onto the Howard Hughes team to provide cultural alignment across the various aspects of Ward Village. This award-winning, 60-acre master-planned community includes a mix of luxury residential, commercial, retail, and community spaces.
In her role, Christine translated the vision of the Howard Hughes leadership—based at the time in New York City for projects like South Street Seaport—into creative expressions that resonated with local Hawaiian audiences. She served as the bridge between corporate design efforts and the unique cultural context of Honolulu, helping the team create identities, themes, and experiences for residential, retail, and community initiatives.
At South Shore Market, Christine developed the brand positioning and visual identity, art-directed a photography shoot by Mark Kushimi, and collaborated with Sig Zane Designs to bring a distinct, culturally resonant aesthetic to the retail and community spaces.
Christine also contributed as a design liaison for the inaugural Honolulu Biennial, where Ward Village served as the main hub hosting art in 10 locations and featuring 48 artists. She ensured that the creative expression of the Biennial aligned with the community’s vision and the broader Ward Village identity, bridging corporate design objectives with locally meaningful experiences.
